Multiple theories provide possible explanations for what the Callings really are in Manifest. For three seasons, understanding the Callings has been one of the main goals for the main characters. And despite all the time they’ve spent doing their bidding, the Flight 828 passengers still aren’t any closer to figuring out where they actually come from and who – if anyone – is controlling them.
The passengers have often discussed the origins of the Callings and what their purposes are in the world. Over the course of the series, Ben, Michaela, Saanvi, and the others have reached several major realizations about the show’s biggest mysteries. They’ve uncovered details about the Death Date, disappearances that mirror their own, and more. Their experiences have caused them to develop the Lifeboat theory as well as a few other conclusions about their predicament.
