Kingpin actor Vincent D'Onofrio reacts to Daredevil being available to stream on Disney+. Daredevil was the beginning of Netflix's Marvel universe, which eventually expanded into more shows, including Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, The Defenders, and The Punisher. D'Onofrio had made a successful career in acting before joining Netflix's Daredevil, but Kingpin has become one of his most popular roles. The character was the main antagonist in Daredevil season 1 before returning to face Matt Murdock again in season 3.
Despite Daredevil season 3 setting up season 4, the show didn't continue with Netflix canceling all of their Marvel shows in late 2018 and early 2019. However, both D'Onofrio's Kingpin and Charlie Cox's Daredevil have since been officially introduced in the MCU. Kingpin turned out to be the big bad in Hawkeye, with D'Onofrio's character being revealed at the very end of episode 5, «Ronin.» Cox then made a surprise cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home just a few days later when the sequel hit theaters. Just last month, the Defenders shows as well as Agents of SHIELD were moved from Netflix to Disney+, resulting in the streaming service getting its first TV-MA series.
