Warning! Spoilers ahead for Devil's Reign #6
Marvel Comics just made a genius move in the final chapter of Devil's Reign as it relates to the «deaths» of both Daredevil and Kingpin. While Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk both survived the massive war that overtook New York, significant status quo shifts have seen the end of major aspects of their lives. As such, Devil's Reign still managed to have some high stakes despite both rivals technically living in the aftermath (despite swearing they'd each kill the other).
At the beginning of Devil's Reign from Chip Zdarsky and Marco Checchetto, Kingpin discovered his mind had been manipulated where he was made to forget Daredevil's secret identity. When the Man Without Fear refused to restore Fisk's memories, the corrupt mayor of New York outlawed superheroes as retribution, kickstarting a war between the Avengers and supervillains Fisk sanctioned to be his new Thunderbolts. However, the Kingpin eventually restored his own memories using the powers of the Purple Man. This sent Fisk on the warpath to kill Matt Murdock.

Surprisingly, Devil's Reign #6 saw Daredevil learning that Matt Murdock had been murdered by Fisk. This is because Daredevil's brother Mike had been posing as Matt Murdock while Daredevil was in jail serving time for involuntary manslaughter. Seeing as how Devil's Reign began almost immediately after Daredevil's release, he hadn't had time to resume his life as Matt. Following his brother's death, Daredevil and Kingpin brutally fought each other with only Elektra being able to keep the real Matt from killing Fisk.
