In the Star Wars universe, the Death Star is held up as one of the most powerful weapons that ever existed. But when it comes to the Empire maintaining its grip on the galaxy, public relations might just be more important.
Marvel's Star Wars comics are currently involved in a crossover event titled Crimson Reign, which follows up on the previous crossover War of the Bounty Hunters. Taking place between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, the event mainly focuses on the character Qi'ra and the criminal organization Crimson Dawn. Qi'ra hopes to take down the Sith using Crimson Dawn's resources, and has reaches out to Leia and the Rebellion to accomplish this goal. As a show of good faith, Qi'ra shares the location of an an Imperial Commander by the name of Zahra, a protege of the late Grand Moff Tarkin who has been hunting the Rebels after the Battle of Hoth. Eventually Zahra is surrounded by a Rebel fleet and she has no plans of surrendering.

In the upcoming issue Star Wars #23, written by Charles Soule and illustrated by Ramon Rosanas, Commander Zahra attempts to take on the fleet with a single Star Destroyer. She tells the Communications Division that they have the most important job in the battle. Having proper backup and thoroughly destroying the enemy is not the top priority for her. The important thing is the message and information that gets out about the battle so it spreads far and wide across the galaxy. People need to understand just how powerful the Empire really is. "We will not just defeat the Rebels," she says. "We will embarrass them. Demoralize them."
