With the approaching release of Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Katherine Waterston is confirmed to be returning as Tina Goldstein, despite her complete absence from the latest trailer. Secrets of Dumbledore will be the third installment of the Fantastic Beasts franchise, which takes place decades prior to the events of the Harry Potter saga. In the first two Fantastic Beasts films, the worldwide Wizarding community is slowly revealed within the streets of early 20th-century New York and Paris.
In 2016, Harry Potter creator and author J.K. Rowling announced that there would be at least five movies in the Fantastic Beasts series, which focuses in part on the earlier lives of now-famous characters like Albus Dumbledore, Gellert Grindelwald, and the cursed-human-turned-snake, Nagini. The prequel series started with Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, following the series' main character, Newt Scamander (Eddie Redmayne), through the streets of 1920's New York City as he tries to wrangle his scattered collection of magical creatures. While on the chase, Scamander becomes entangled with a crew of Americans including Tina and Queenie Goldstein (Alison Sudol), two half-blood witches who work for MACUSA, the Magical Congress of the United States of America. Tina and Newt develop a love interest in the first two installments, so her return in Secrets of Dumbledore was expected, but concerns grew that Waterston may not be back for Fantastic Beasts 3 after being notably absent from the latest trailer.
