Filmmaker Edgar Wright has reunited with Shaun of the Dead stars Simon Pegg and Nick Frost for Frost’s 49th birthday. To date, the three friends have made some of the defining films of their careers together and are widely known for The Cornetto Trilogy, which began with Shaun of the Dead in 2004 and completed with 2013’s The World’s End. Though all three continue to find success with their own projects, fans are eager to see them reunite.
In the early days of their careers, Wright, Pegg, and Frost worked together on the short-lived but immensely entertaining TV series Spaced. The bond the three forged gained momentum with the release of Wright’s second feature-length release, Shaun of the Dead. What was meant to be a small indie horror homage to the zombie genre became a massive hit, and with it came the start of The Cornetto Trilogy. Named as such due to the prevalence of a specific British ice cream brand seen in the three loosely connected films, it’s somewhat safe to say that among fans, Shaun of the Dead remains the favorite. Wright and Pegg, who wrote the film together, have since discussed the possibility of a sequel, but to date, this has yet to achieve any solid momentum – much to the great dismay of many.

Nonetheless, any time Wright, Pegg, and Frost are seen together is an encouraging sign – even if the reason for it isn’t directly related to filmmaking.
