Jurassic Park 3 star Sam Neill reveals that he thinks the maligned sequel should now be reevaluated 21 years after its initial release. Directed by Joe Johnston, Jurassic Park 3 brought back Neill's fan-favorite paleontologist, Dr. Alan Grant, and saw the character recruited for what initially seems to be an aerial scouting mission above Isla Sorna. It soon becomes clear that the two parents that recruited him are actually interested in landing on the island and attempting to find their son, who had gone missing months earlier.
While the second film, The Lost World: Jurassic Park was considered a disappointment following the critical acclaim of the first film, Jurassic Park 3 scored even lower with audiences and critics. The film currently has a 48% on Rotten Tomatoes, with the audience score even lower at 36%. Many fans criticized the film for some of the plot and character decisions that had been made, with the abrupt ending, in particular, being much maligned. Despite lackluster reviews, Jurassic Park 3 was a success at the box office, earning over $368 million. In addition to Neill, Jurassic Park III stars William H. Macy, Téa Leoni, Allesandro Nivola, and Trevor Morgan.
