The director of Jurassic World Dominion, Colin Trevorrow, reveals that he will not attempt to do a remake of the original Jurassic Park film. Jurassic Park premiered in 1993 and features a theme park full of cloned dinosaurs, as well as paleontologist Dr. Alan Grant (played by Sam Neil), the paleobotanist Dr. Ellie Sattler (played by Laura Dern), and mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm (played by Jeff Goldblum). The film is written by David Koepp and Michael Crichton, based on the book by Crichton under the same name, and directed by Steven Spielberg.
Jurassic Park was a box office hit, becoming the highest-grossing film released worldwide up to that time, and won several Academy Awards, including Best Sound Editing Effects, Best Sound, and Best Visual Effects. Rotten Tomatoes also retrospectively reported a 92 percent Tomatometer score for Jurassic Park. Part of this acclaimed critical response and following accolades is due to the revolutionary special effects used in the film that combined computer-generated imagery and animatronic models to make the dinosaurs in the movie look strikingly real.

In an interview with Collider, Trevorrow states that he does not plan to make a Jurassic Park remake. Trevorrow notes that he believes the original film in the franchise to be one of the best films ever made and that meeting the expectations set by Spielberg's film would be incredibly difficult. Trevorrow feels the franchise's best path forward is not to revisit the original movie but to continue moving forward and expanding the universe. This is just my own personal opinion.
