July 24 Is A Huge Day For Xbox Game Pass
According to a new report, July 24 could be a massive day for Xbox Game Pass. Microsoft's subscription service offers players hundreds of titles from both its first-party studios and others, and depending on the tier players are subscribed to — a change that was recently implemented alongside a price increase — they'll also be able to access some titles upon their original release date.
In a new report from Insider Gaming, Tom Henderson writes that he has corroborated with sources that will be released on Game Pass on Wednesday, July 24. Insider Gaming previously reported that the 2023 first-person shooter would be joining the subscription's roster, and this was corroborated by Windows Central's Jez Corden on X, but this is the first release date to be mentioned outside of a vague July window.
Xbox Game Pass has a massive library of games to play, but there are some particularly well-suited for local, split-screen multiplayer.
The series' inclusion on Xbox Game Pass seemed inevitable after Microsoft acquired the series' developer Activision last year, even though there had been some reports that Activision was concerned about the potential loss of revenue that could come from being part of the subscription, considering how lucrative the franchise's releases usually are, and this could have been part of the decision-making behind the recent price increase, even if Microsoft didn't state this in its announcement. In May, Xbox confirmed the next entry in the series, would be coming to the service as a Day One title when it launches on October 25.
Therefore, with the newest title already confirmed, it seemed even more likely that Microsoft would bring the past games in the series to the subscription's roster to build up more hype beforehand. Currently, only the most recent entry, 2023's has been rumored. Still, it wouldn't be surprising to see the past titles soon accompanying it, or the addition of the past games to drum up even more hype as the newest entry draws
