With Season 3 streaming on Paramount Plus, Jeremy Renner was asked if he’ll be back in Season 4. He made a comeback to acting following his death-defying snowplow accident. But he revealed that his return as Mike McLusky in the next season depends on two important factors.
While talking about his desire to do more, Renner stated that he is interested in exploring Mike McLusky’s character beyond Mayor of Kingstown Season 3. However, it would only be possible if the show gets renewed for another season, and if Mike survives the latest season.
In his recent interview with Collider, Renner said:
“I have to make it through Season 3 first. We’ll see if I do. I’ve enjoyed being with this character and exploring, and I always think there’s more to explore.”
He further explained that he isn’t aware of his character’s fate and how things will turn out for others in Season 3. He continued:
“When the world is set up so beautifully, like it is in Mayor of Kingstown, and all the chess pieces are there, every time you play chess, it’s a new game. It’s like that with this [show]. For the audience, they just get more involved and invested in the characters, just as I do. I’ve only seen the first episode, so I’m excited to see the rest of the season. I don’t know half the things. I only focused on my part.”
Mike McLusky is up to making all sorts of deals to maintain the peace in Kingstown. While his fate hasn’t been revealed, he is the most crucial cog to keep it all together. Furthermore, Renner’s performance is among the main reasons for the show’s success. So, if Season 4 were to happen, it’s likely that his character would also survive Season 3. However, nothing is confirmed at the time of writing.
Besides Jeremy Renner, Mayor of Kingstown Season 3 stars Emma Laird as Iris, Taylor Handley as Kyle McLuskey, Hugh Dillon as Ian Ferguson, Derek Webster as Stevie, Tobi Bamtefa as Bunny Washington, and Hamish Allan-Headley as Robert, among others.
