James Gunn is close to solving the Rick and Morty mystery on set of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3. The superhero auteur has been exceptionally busy over the past few years, following up the combination of Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 with a stint at DC, which so far has produced the film The Suicide Squad and its HBO Max spinoff Peacemaker. After a controversy over old tweets, Gunn was fired and soon rehired to helm Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
The MCU sequel began filming in November 2021 and is expected to wrap soon, ahead of its release date one year hence on May 5, 2023. In keeping with Marvel tradition, plot details are being kept firmly under wraps, though the return of the main cast has been confirmed, including Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldaña as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Karen Gillan as Nebula, and Pom Klementieff as Mantis. Throughout production, Gunn has been repeatedly baffled by an ongoing Rick and Morty prank orchestrated by an unknown entity.

In his tweet, Gunn goes on to say that Porkchop (a video assistant whom the director suspects may be behind the entire prank) will reveal the truth of the matter and the real culprit(s) later this week, on Thursday. Check out Gunn's post below:
