Most of the recruitable Minions in Iratus: Lord Of The Dead have fairly basic unlock requirements that can be achieved over the course of normal play. Vampires, however, require a very specific series of extra steps of which players might not even be aware.

While luring the dungeon's Vampires into your service might be more time-consuming than simply slicing your way through your enemies, the payoff is considerable; assisted by Banshees, Wraiths, and Mummies, these fanged fighters can become extremely powerful damage-dealers that heal themselves with every attack. The first step to recruiting Vampires is to have Iratus learn the Blood Curse spell. It's located on the right-hand side of the Magic Talent Tree, and you'll need to learn Haste, Black Incense, and Arcana Antediluvia before you can unlock it. These are all great Talents to have in your repertoire, but there are powers in the other trees that need your attention as well.
Since learning Blood Curse requires a total investment of seven Talent Points, it's best to work toward it incrementally. We recommend aiming to learn Blood Curse in the early stages of the Mercenary Barracks, the third floor of the dungeon. It's a reasonable goal that allows you to learn other critical early-game Talents, and the Barracks is a prime hunting ground for Vampires thanks to the Stress vulnerability of the enemies there and the tendency of support units to flee if caught alone.
