The Handmaid's Tale season 5 trailer has been released and shows the aftermath of Fred Waterford's death in season 4. Based on Margaret Atwood’s 1985 novel, The Handmaid’s Tale first premiered on Hulu in 2017. Starring Elisabeth Moss as June Osbourne, the acclaimed series quickly became one of the streaming service’s most popular offerings. Last year saw the release of The Handmaid’s Tale season 4, which showed the battle between Gilead and Canada soar to new heights. Helmed by showrunner Bruce Miller, The Handmaid’s Tale also stars Ann Dowd, Madeline Brewer, Bradley Whitford, Max Minghella, Fagbenle, Samira Wiley, and Sam Jaeger.
In 2020, before the premiere of season 4, The Handmaid’s Tale was renewed for a fifth installment and season 4 ended on an ambiguous note after June, Emily (Alexis Bledel), and their fellow former handmaids brutally murdered Commander Fred Waterford (Joseph Fiennes). Following the official announcement of The Handmaid’s Tale season 5, the series has only doled out a few details on the upcoming episodes. These updates have included Christine Ko joining the cast as Lily, a leader of the Resistance, and Bledal announcing her exit from the series ahead of season 5.
