The release date for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: The Cowabunga Collection has been revealed via a new trailer. The collection of classic TMNT games was initially announced for PlayStation during March's State of Play.
Leonardo, Donatello, Raphael and Michaelangelo have had many video game outings over the years, on a variety of different platforms. This long-running thread of theTMNT franchise began with 1989's NES title, simply named Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The turtles have since gone on to have dozens of games to their name over the decades, with the latest release being TMNT: Shredder's Revenge. A side-scrolling beat-em-up, Shredder's Revenge has quickly proved to be a success with both critics and fans. The gameplay hearkens back to the old era of arcade games, and many reviews praised the nostalgia Shredder's Revenge invokes as a result of this.

Further fueling the flames of this nostalgia is the upcoming Cowabunga Collection. Now a new trailer, which has been released exclusively by IGN, has revealed that the T-rated collection of classic games is due to be released on August 30. TMNT: The Cowabunga Collection will feature 13 early titles from the TMNT franchise, including the original NES game. Other games in the collection were originally released for arcade, SNES, Sega Genesis and the Game Boy, making the final list of titles a perfect showcase of classic turtle action. Furthermore, as a testament to the prolific nature of the ninja turtles, every game in The Cowabunga Collection has been sourced from just a five-year time period (1989 to 1994).
