The first trailer for Shazam! Fury of the Gods has dropped at Comic-Con 2022. Starring Zachary Levi as the titular character, the David F. Sandberg-directed sequel also stars Helen Mirren as Hespera, Lucy Liu as Kalypso, and Rachel Zegler in a mystery role, along with returning cast members Jack Dylan Grazer, Asher Angel, Adam Brody, Meagan Good, DJ Cotrona, Ross Butler, and Djimon Hounsou. Henry Gayden returns to script for the sequel, alongside Chris Morgan.
The first Shazam! was released in 2019 to strong critical acclaim and a global box-office haul of $366 million, prompting a sequel to be announced shortly after. The sequel was originally slated to debut in 2023, but a DCEU schedule shift, moved the film up to follow on the heels of Black Adam in December 2022, just after James Cameron's Avatar: The Way of Water hits theaters. It's unclear if that shift has anything to do with the connective link between the characters, but that will certainly be revealed when both are released.
