Gameloft has confirmed that Season 8 of Disney Speedstorm will be inspired by upcoming Pixar sequel, Inside Out 2. Not only that, this new season has been dated for next week, launching on June 13, 2024, on all available platforms including PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC, Nintendo Switch, and mobile.
Each new season in Disney Speedstorm brings with it new playable racers and tracks, as well as a battle pass refresh. In Season 8 – dubbed Journey of Emotions – fans of the free-to-play racer can expect a glut of new content based on Inside Out 2, which hits cinemas on June 14, 2024.
First up, we have 5 new unlockable characters including Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust, and Sadness. Gameloft is teasing that we’ll also see 2 mystery racers appear mid-season. The last mystery racer to join Disney Speedstorm was Kermit the Frog from the Muppets. Journey of Emotions will also introduce a cluster of new tracks to the game as well as Crew Members, secondary characters that can be equipped to racers to increase both their base stats and the effectiveness of power-ups.
For long-time fans of the Disney kart racer, there’s even more exciting news. With Season 8 comes a new “Team Battle” game mode which should hopefully introduce a new dynamic and give characters with support-focused abilities some much-needed time under the spotlight. Gameloft will also be making changes to ranked play, saying that “Ranked Races will see major improvements designed to make the competitive Disney Speedstorm experience more rewarding for all players. A new Player Rank progression and reward system will work alongside the current individual racer and progression paths, giving players even more opportunities to unlock exciting rewards.”
