has finally escaped the tombs of, and is available to play. While sales are unknown (it fully releases on December 9, 2024), it is doing well critically. This success may lead to becoming a larger gaming franchise. At the very least, the team is “always looking for great stories,” according to vice president and general manager Douglas Reilly.
In an interview with Variety, Reilly sheds some light on the future of Indiana Jones games as an ongoing gaming franchise. As of now, it isn’t quite a definitive yes or no. However, it does seem there is a possibility for more Indy stories to be told in the interactive medium.
“Right now, we’re focused on getting this one to the public and getting to the DLC and making this as successful as we can,” Reilly said. “I think we’re always looking for great stories. And the good news is, there’s a lot of space in between the films where we could tell more and more Indiana Jones stories that I think would be super interesting.”
Indiana Jones and the Great Circle is set between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. The Temple of Doom is a prequel, and is set a year before Raiders. That means Indy’s adventures between 1935 and 1938 are documented. Additionally, Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and Dial of Destiny are set in 1957 and 1969 respectively. With a huge gap of time between Crusade and Crystal Skull, that might be a good place to start penning another Indiana Jones game.
