Tarnished stuck waiting in limbo for any scrap of Elden Ring DLC information will have to endure that fate a while longer yet, as FromSoftware parent company Kadokawa has crushed our Shadow of the Erdtree hopes in as dry, corporate fashion as possible. Despite meaningful evidence emerging last month to suggest that some surprise re-reveal was imminent (which may still be the case), it doesn't sound like we can expect a release date anytime soon.

News comes to us by way of Kadokawa's latest financial report (thanks GamesRadar+), which, amongst all the numbers and figures, lists a FAQ entry we were dying to know the answer to. It specifically asks: «What is the development status of DLC for Elden Ring, and when will it be released?» The answer, unfortunately, leads us right back to square one and is frustratingly vague: «We are currently working hard on the development of DLC for Elden Ring, but we have not announced a release date at this time.»

Speculation of some February reveal ramped up back in December when the existence of some gaudy third-party controllers leaked. Shadow of the Erdtree was announced at the end of February 2023 (and the base game was released in February 2022), so we've become conditioned to expect Elden Ring updates within a specific time frame. We'll have to wait and see if the game's second anniversary brings us any news.
