Paramount+ has released the trailer and premiere date for iCarly season 2, revealing that Nickelodeon alum Josh Peck has joined the series. The original iCarly series, created by Dan Schnieder, ran on Nickelodeon for six seasons over five years. The show followed Carly, portrayed by Miranda Cosgrove, as she and her friends tried to balance their lives as teenagers with their lives as internet celebrities after creating the titular web series. Paramount+ decided to develop a reboot of the fan-favorite series with a returning cast dealing with their new lives nine years after the events of the original series.
The Paramount+ series had a very successful first season following Carly's return to her popular web series with her friend Freddie and older brother Spencer. Both Nathan Kress and Jerry Trainor returned to their respective roles. New to the series, Laci Mosley portrays Harper, Carly's new best friend from college, and Jiadyn Triplett portrays Millicent, Freddie's adopted stepdaughter. With this new cast of characters, the series has covered more adult themes in its first season, unlike its predecessor, having Carly grapple with past romantic relationships and Freddie deal with the struggles of being a parent. The first season of iCarlyhas been one of the most-streamed series on Paramount+ since its debut and was renewed for a second season in July 2021.
