As Pokémon Unite nears its one-year anniversary, players can get free costumes and licenses to celebrate. In addition to these freebies, Pokémon Unite is adding new playable Pokémon, a Boss Rush mode, log-in bonuses, and challenges. The celebrations kick off on July 21st and will continue into August, giving players plenty of time to take advantage of the Pokémon Unite anniversary event.
Among the new Pokémon to join Unite are Glaceon, Buzzwole, and Tyranitar. However, to unlock them, players need to take part in missions to earn their Unite licenses. A license is Pokémon Unite's way of unlocking characters and gear, so by taking part in various challenges throughout the anniversary event, players can get various new Pokémon and costumes to add to their collections.

To earn new Pokémon licenses and costumes, players need to log into Pokémon Unite on particular days during the anniversary event. Some of the costumes for existing characters can be earned by just logging in, but the new Pokémon must be unlocked by completing a series of challenges in the game.
Players can earn new Holowear for their Pokémon by logging in to the game on certain days as well as participating in Battle Pass levels. As long as players log in to Pokémon Unite for five of the event days, they will earn a Pokémon and costume, in addition to an alternate Holowear Style costume. If players already own the following costumes, they will instead get 100 Aeos coins to spend in the shop.
Pokémon Unite has also teased new Pokémon costumes for players who perform well and earn rewards through the Season 9 Battle Pass levels, like Pikachu's Band Style costume and Wigglytuff's Songstress
