Kieran of Kitakami becomes the rival of the main character in the DLC. Like most mainline series games, the player will need to battle and win against them to progress forward. At the beginning of the storyline, defeating Kieran should be fairly easy, however, he trains quite frequently to try to overcome the challenge of one day defeating you. He is the stereotype of the classic rival of the Pokémon games which means the more prepared you are, the smoother the battles will go.
Kieran becomes very powerful very fast, depending on how long the player spends finishing the DLC story. He tends to train his Pokémon while you spend time fixing the mask and battling the Loyal Three, Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipity. There will even be a final fight right before attempting to catch the Legendary Pokémon Ogerpon which he has been obsessed with his entire life. Thankfully, the consistency with the typing of his Pokémon can be easily dealt with.
There will be five battles with Kieran while playing through the storyline in:. Each battle will become increasingly harder with new Pokémon added to his team, evolutions, and the addition of sneaky items that help his chances of winning.
His Pokémon's Level Range will depend on how much progress has been completed in the main story. The player does not need to finish the three Treasure Hunt paths to completion to get to Kitakami.
