Even though Genshin Impact is still widely considered HoYoverse's main title, Honkai: Star Rail has frequently claimed the top revenue spot in the mobile gaming industry. A Reddit user named Devilmay1233 has shared a chart that shows the March revenue numbers for several different mobile games, including Honkai: Star Rail and Genshin Impact. The data shown in the chart was taken from a credible business website named Sensor Tower. According to the chart, Honkai: Star Rail's revenue for March was an impressive $145 million, marking a 56% increase from February's revenue of approximately $92.5 million. In comparison, Genshin Impact's revenue has dropped from $92.8 million in February to $68 million in the previous month. The main reason behind Honkai's revenue increase is the fact that one of the most popular and powerful characters, Acheron, was released on March 20.
Acheron is a unique main DPS-oriented Nihility character, which means that her kit revolves around applying debuffs. She has one of the most powerful Ultimates in Honkai: Star Rail, which can ignore the enemy's weakness and reduce their toughness along with all of their elemental resistances. Another factor in Honkai: Star Rail's revenue success is that the popular five-star support Sparkle was released on February 29. This timing means that the majority of her sales were realized in March.
