's 3.0 update added a handy new reroll tool in the Variable Dice, but how exactly do they work? 3.0 was a huge update for in many ways, principally with the story moving on to the Greek-inspired planet of Amphoreus. This came with adding a new Path, Remembrance, focused on units with summons. The first two characters following this Path are the Trailblazer and the upcoming 5-Star Aglaea. 3.0 also sees the full reveal of The Herta and her best builds in their 5-Star Emanator status.
Along with Variable Dice, the 3.0 update added other quality-of-life features from the list of expectations for in 2025. The arguably biggest addition is the Wishful Resin, which allows players, when building a custom relic, to select their sub-stats under certain conditions. This can work hand-in-hand with the new in-game character build guide, which will show what stats and sets are best for characters. Finally, a gadget to help find hidden chests was added for those pesky well-hidden loot.
Currently, there are three ways to get Variable Dice in. The first way, which is the only free/gift option, is from the Mem's Gift rewards at the start of 3.0. This gives one Variable Dice along with ten pulls for the limited-time banners. However, this is a one-time gift, so this cannot be relied on for consistent acquisitions. The extra pulls are a huge boon in itself, as a new region means numerous new powerful units to pull for.
While HoYoverse has confirmed two new characters for Honkai: Star Rail 3.0, four other 5-star units have been leaked for Versions 3.1 and 3.2.
The other two ways to get Variable Dice are consistent. The first is that they can be crafted in the Synthesizer for the cost of three Self-Modeling Resins. This is a hefty price, but could be good if you do not need to craft custom relics as much and simply fix the ones you already have.
