Yesterday - on April Fool's Day of all days - developer Team Cherry posted a new Xbox Store page for the long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong. There are almost no new details or screenshots, nor a date, but you can now wishlist it for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
Xbox Portfolio Sr. content planning manager Nick Zuclic even tweeted about the page, "A new cool game to wishlist?!" Of course, with it being April Fool's Day, people were sceptical, but the page is legit and can still be viewed today. Whether it has any significance is another question entirely.
Silksong was announced five years ago in 2019, just two years after the release of Hollow Knight. Ever since, every single Nintendo Direct and showcase has been flooded with comments asking, 'Where Silksong?'
People stick it on their wishlists and predictions for every event, and it never shows. It's become a meme at this point, but fans have gone as far as to threaten to delete the subreddit to get news from Team Cherry.
It was initially planned to launch in 2023, but it was delayed and no new window was given. Last month, Team Cherry's head of marketing and publishing revealed that it's "still in development", but declined to go into any specifics or give further updates.
So, perhaps an Xbox store page has been made in anticipation of a re-reveal and new release date announcement, or perhaps it means nothing. Fans are running wild with it, either way.
The store page includes one interesting detail - an ESRB rating. It's now listed as "Everyone 10+" with "fantasy violence" and "mild blood". Typically, ratings point to an imminent release. So, fans have taken this and the new Xbox store page to mean that Silksong will finally be in our hands and on our shelves at some point this year, two years after its intended launch.
Whether that's actually the case, we won't know until Team Cherry itself says. But expect every single showcase and direct to be filled to the brim with the usual Silksong comments again this
