A new Hogwarts Legacy video that was shared online recently highlights the massive visual improvements brought by the Ultra Plus mod.
The new comparison, which was put together by ElAnalistaDeBits, highlights how the mod introduces massive visual improvements across the board, such as global illumination, reflections, ambient occlusion, and ray tracing improvements. At times, it feels like this was the way Hogwarts Legacy was always meant to be experienced on high-end hardware.
Even without these enhanced visuals, however, Hogwarts Legacy is a game worth experiencing for all fans of the Wizarding World, although its open-world design isn't particularly exciting, as highlighted by Chris in his review.
So, long story short, I like Hogwarts Legacy and its story, but there are certainly some issues if you don't turn your brain off. While I'm rounding up, I should also say that once the game launched and I downloaded the update, the performance seemed to plummet on occasion. While I already saw a little slowdown when using Lumos, I started to see it even more, sometimes even when not using the spell. Performance-wise, I'm still not overly down on it, but there is room for improvement.
Hogwarts Legacy is now available on PC, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and Xbox One worldwide. The game will release on Nintendo Switch this November.
