A new version of The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom popular Dynamic FPS mod is now available for download, introducing a big change that is set to improve the game's visuals further.
Version 1.5.5, which can be downloaded by going here, brings custom internal resolution settings, allowing users to set resolution above 1080p and scale it to 1440p and 4K natively without having to use the resolution scaling options of the Yuzu and Ryujinx emulators.
While increasing internal resolution leads to the image being less sharpened, doing so leads to considerable visual improvements, such as better shadows and lighting, improved simulation, ambient occlusion, volumetric lighting, reflections on metallic surfaces, and more. As the modder had to change some of the engine internals around memory heap sizes, the game will require the increased memory option to be enabled in the emulators, which may lead to instability. With the increased internal resolution, additionally, there may be some performance drops on some systems.
While playing the game on PC with the Yuzu and Ryujinx emulators is becoming more and more the way to enjoy it to the fullest, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is a thoroughly enjoyable game even on native hardware, as highlighted by Nathan in his review.
