The first photos showing off the upcoming Borderlands film have been released.
The feature film, which is written and directed by Eli Roth, is based on the video game series developed by Gearbox and published by Take-Two.
Scheduled to hit cinemas on August 9, 2024, it stars Cate Blanchett as Lilith, Kevin Hart as Roland, Jamie Lee Curtis as Tannis, and Jack Black as Claptrap.

“Lilith, an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past, reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora to find the missing daughter of the universe’s most powerful S.O.B., Atlas,” reads a synopsis of the film.
“Lilith forms an alliance with an unexpected team – Roland, a former elite mercenary, now desperate for redemption; Tiny Tina, a feral pre-teen demolitionist; Krieg, Tina’s musclebound, rhetorically challenged protector; Tannis, the scientist with a tenuous grip on sanity; and Claptrap, a persistently wiseass robot.
“These unlikely heroes must battle alien monsters and dangerous bandits to find and protect the missing girl, who may hold the key to unimaginable power. The fate of the universe could be in their hands but they’ll be fighting for something more: each other.”
Explaining why a Grand Theft Auto adaptation is seemingly unlikely to be announced anytime soon, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick recently said the company was taking a highly selective approach to bringing its properties to film or TV.
“We have licensed two properties, we’ve licensed Borderlands to Lionsgate, there’s a picture coming, we’ve licensed BioShock, we’re looking forward to that as well,” he said in November. “And we have other titles in discussions, not anything ready to announce. But we’re going to be very, very selective, and very careful.”
