Helldivers 2 deployed back in February and hasn't slowed down since planting its Starship Troopers-sized boots in the ground.
We've seen countless major orders, Warbonds, and everything from mech suits to stratagems to entirely new weapons. It's packed three months to the brim, with dataminers uncovering a helluva lot more to come, but Arrowhead says that it might be time to slow down.
Arrowhead has discussed finally adding PTS servers to the game which would certainly slow down the process.
"When it's done," Thomas 'Twinbeard' Petersson said on the game's official Discord after a fan asked when we can expect the next patch (as reported by PC Gamer). "We want to take some more time for this one and potentially between future patches since we feel cadence has probably been a bit too high to be able to maintain the quality standard we want and you deserve.
"Patching a lot can easily disrupt workflow and take more resources than you might think; it needs planning, implementing, monitoring, possible tweaking in hotfixes, etc. For this one we prefer to stretch it out a little, hopefully with a good result."
Petersson went into more detail on what we can expect from future updates in a separate message; "I'd say it's something we have to try out and get a feel for. We feel a slightly lower cadence overall will benefit both of us, you, and the game."
Fans are pretty torn about this approach over on the subreddit--many agree that slowing down the pace will result in better updates with fewer issues, but others aren't happy with the state of the game right now and want to see nerfs rolled back as soon as possible.
"My issue is we're left to stew in one of the least enjoyable patches of the game so far," one user commented. "If we were a couple of patches back, I'd be aight playing the game."
"I think the biggest issue is that nobody wanted [the] majority of balance patches," another said. "They came somewhat quickly and now that they're here, they're here
