Attempting to clear out bugs, one Helldivers 2 player has an accidental run in with a 500KG bomb after calling in an airstrike in the wrong location. Since it recently launched, Helldivers 2 has seen unprecedented success with a quickly rising playerbase. For a live service title, the news couldn't be better, though the success comes at a cost, as Arrowhead Game Studios has been overwhelmed with demand. While the studio continues to spin up new servers while also dealing with countless backend issues, it hasn't stopped many players from having a good time fighting back against automatons and bugs.
Even with login restrictions and other issues plaguing those attempting to access the game, Helldivers 2 continues to break new records for Arrowhead and Sony. In fact, this past weekend on Steam alone, Helldivers 2 has managed to bypass Destiny 2's all-time concurrent player count numbers on Steam, quite an achievement for a much smaller game that has only just released. Players have continued to share their experiences with the game, offering tips, tricks, and even showing off some of the more hilarious moments, including one player that used one of the many airstrike stratagems that went terribly wrong.
In a new post on the Helldivers 2 subreddit, a user named Hazerel uploaded a short clip of a 4 player mission attempting to destroy three different egg nests. Seeing an opportunity to take down the fearsome Helldivers 2 Bile Titan enemy, the player calls down the Eagle 500KG Bomb airstrike stratagem far down below. As the player goes to watch the imminent destruction, the bomb shockingly lands right near the player instead of the actual target zone. Feeling the sense of dread, the bomb explodes and quickly dispatches the player in a spectacular and accidental death.
