It is no secret that Harley Quinn’s greatest rival has been and seemingly always will be the Joker, as the villain's physical and psychological abuse changed the path of her life forever. However, there is another potential nemesis that is actually a way better fit for Harley than the Joker, and DC proves it with Quinn’s fiery final battle.
Before she became Harley Quinn, Doctor Harleen Quinzel was a psychiatrist at Arkham Asylum who was assigned the daunting task of working with the Joker. Rather than Harleen helping the Joker fit in with the rest of society, Joker brought Harleen down to his level of brutal criminality. For a while, Harley Quinn was Joker’s number two as she would follow his lead on a number of schemes throughout their shared history. However, Joker was heavily abusive towards Harley and eventually she decided to never go back to him after he left her for dead one too many times — an emancipation that made Harley Quinn and the Joker bitter enemies. However, it's precisely this past that makes Joker a poor nemesis for Harley to revisit, as escaping his influence is one of the defining moments of her life.
