A new costume worn by Harley Quinn is a gift to the legion of enthusiastic cosplayers who love to portray the character, both for its unique and striking design, and for the significance it has to Harley's fan-favorite relationship with Poison Ivy.
Recently, after a traumatic encounter with Gotham's Magistrate organization, Poison Ivy adopted two separate forms. While they eventually merged back into one person, the process ultimately cut Ivy off from the Green — DC's elemental expression of all plant life, and the source of her flora-based powers. While this was essential to saving Ivy's life, it has left her bereft, and she has since embarked on a new mission to bring about the Sixth Mass Extinction, purging human life from the planet so that plants can reign supreme. However, Poison Ivy does still have some connections to the human world — chief among them her former partner Harley Quinn.

In Poison Ivy #3 — from G. Willow Wilson, Marcio Takara, Arif Prianto, and Hassan Otsmane-Elhaou — Ivy dreams a conversation with Harley in which the Gotham hero tells her she doesn't have to move forward with her genocidal plans. In Poison Ivy's subconscious, Harley gets a jaw-dropping new costume, featuring a Venetian-style off the shoulder dress, harlequin hood, ruffle trim gloves, and a golden 'slapstick' or batte. The outfit is themed on Harley's usual combo of red and black with blue details, and incorporates her playing-card heart iconography even more centrally than other costumes through her history (understandable, given the outfit is a conjuration of Poison Ivy's love for Harley Quinn.)
