The Joker has always been more of a schemer than a brawler, as he more often than not sets traps and puts people in nightmarish situations for his own amusement rather than opting to fight hand-to-hand, whereas Harley Quinn has the desire and skillset to get her hands dirty whenever the opportunity arises. So, when the Joker did brutally kill someone with his bare hands, it only makes sense that Harley Quinn would use his same technique later on, and in a way that one-ups her abusive ex.
