Harleen Quinzel aka Harley Quinn has accumulated a plethora of abilities throughout her fantabulous comic book career, but none have been as useful as her most peculiar one, a power that basically makes her immortal. Along with her incredibly high intellect, impressive fighting skills, and seemingly superhuman agility, Harley Quinn has an ability that some wouldn’t even consider a power at all, though it proved to be enough to keep her alive after she was brutally murdered.
In Harley Quinn and the Birds of Prey #4 by Amanda Conner and Jimmy Palmiotti, the Birds of Prey are fighting off nearly every supervillain in Gotham, from Penguin to Two-Face, and even Mr. Freeze. Meanwhile, the Joker has taken an unconscious Poison Ivy hostage in an effort to trap and kill Harley Quinn. Rather than finishing her off quick, the Joker relishes in his assumed victory and tortures Harley both physically and mentally.

During the torture, the Joker carves a giant ‘J’ into Harley Quinn’s chest in a sick attempt to mark her as his forever. While the emotional and psychological ramifications of this act of extreme violence are evident, the physical becomes even more so as Harley quickly begins to bleed to death. Before Joker finishes the job, Poison Ivy regains consciousness and throws him out of the window of her penthouse suite, then makes her way to Harley. Moments later, Harley Quinn dies and her soul is transported to the afterlife.
