The iconic Half-Life 2 has hit a record 64,000 concurrent players on Steam.
That's according to data from SteamDB, which shows that the title attracted 64,085 users at the same time at 17:00 UTC on Sunday, November 17th. This is well above the 16,101 concurrent players Valve's title hit back in 2021, the previous record for concurrent players.
This spike in players has been brought about by Half-Life 2 the fact that Valve is giving the game away for free to celebrate the title's 20th anniversary. The icon was released on November 16th, 2024.
It also coincides with a two hour 20th anniversary documentary that Valve has released to celebrate the milestone, which has drummed up hype for the game on the back of unreleased footage of the long-awaited Episode Three.
