New Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Nextgen Edition footage was shared online, providing a new look at the unofficial remaster currently in the works by Revolution Team.
The new footage, which can be watched below, focuses on the Trojan Voodoo mission, highlighting the improvements made in the unofficial remake to visual effects, such as explosions. Needless to say, the project is looking better and better with each new showing and will likely end up being a much better way to enjoy the classic entry in the series than the disappointing official remaster.
The aforementioned Grand Theft Auto: Vice City official remaster was released on PC and consoles three years back as part of the Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy—The Definitive Edition, which was universally considered a failure due to the disappointing improvements and the many issues that plagued all the included games. Rockstar Games released a few patches that improved the situation, but the collection still stands as a disappointing release, as highlighted by Nathan in his review.
Grand Theft Auto: The Trilogy – The Definitive Edition collects some truly groundbreaking games that still provide their share of nostalgic fun, but little has been done to make them shine here in 2021. Ultimately, a shoddy visual upgrade, choppy performance, and a lack of meaningful updates or extras may leave you questioning why you loved them in the first place. Perhaps this collection can be brought up to snuff with updates from Rockstar (or modders), but for now, its Wanted Level remains low.
Grand Theft Auto: Vice City Nextgen Edition has yet to receive a release window. You can learn more about the project by joining the development team's official Telegram channel.
