A total of two action cameras have been teased by GoPro, with the company revealing that it will announce these HERO13 Black models on September 4. Following a series of leaks of the HERO12 Black that started picking up the pace in August last year, the camera maker is right on schedule to launch its successor in just a couple of days.
With only a few days remaining, GoPro took to X to make the announcement, with the small clip revealing two models will be a part of the HERO13 Black family. Looking at the video below, one of them will undoubtedly be the direct replacement for the HERO12 Black, with the large camera lens and miniature display right next to it, followed by the primary screen on the backside.
However, the company is also aiming to launch a more affordable version of the HERO13 Black. GoPro is likely to target budget-friendly buyers with this version, with the compact HERO13 Black offering flagship specifications and features at some compromises.
As reported by GizmoChina, the HERO13 Black is said to retain the same 27MP sensor as the HERO12 Black, suggesting that the upcoming action camera will not gain any upgrades in the resolution and framerate categories either. This means that we should expect the maximum supported resolution and framerate to be retained at 5.3K at 60FPS. Where GoPro could make improvements is introducing better accessory compatibility to improve the image and video capturing experience.
It is also possible that the HERO13 Black receives a minor battery upgrade compared to the HERO12
