Good American Family Trailer: Ellen Pompeo Leads Hulu True Crime Show
Hulu has revealed the trailer for its newest true crime drama, inspired by the real-life story of Ukrainian-born Natalia Grace and her adoptive parents. The series is scheduled to start streaming on March 19.
“Told from multiple points of view, as a means to explore issues of perspective, bias, and trauma, this compelling drama is inspired by the disturbing stories surrounding a Midwestern couple who adopts a girl with a rare form of dwarfism,” reads the official synopsis. “But as they begin to raise her alongside their three biological children, mystery emerges around her age and background, and they slowly start to suspect she may not be who she says she is. As they defend their family from the daughter they’ve grown to believe is a threat, she fights her own battle to confront her past and what her future holds, in a showdown that ultimately plays out in the tabloids and the courtroom.”

The video features Ellen Pompeo in her first major TV project after leading ABC’s long-running medical drama Grey’s Anatomy for 21 seasons. It introduces a normal American couple, who decides to adopt a young foreign girl with dwarfism, who might be hiding something more about her real identity. In addition to Pompeo, the cast also includes Mark Duplass and Imogen Faith Reid, Dulé Hill, Christina Hendricks, Sarayu Blue and Jenny O’Hara.

Good American Family is created and executive produced by Katie Robbins, who’s also serving as co-showrunner with Sarah Sutherland. Pompeo is also executive producing alongside Laura Holstein for Calamity Jane. It is executive prioduced by Andrew Stearn, Dan Spilo, Niles Kirchner, Mike Epps and Liz Garbus, with the latter also directing the pilot. It is a production by 20th Television
