Godzilla vs. Kong 2 has a few new details announced by Warner Bros. After Godzilla vs. Kong turned out to be a massive success upon its release back in 2021, it came as no shock when it was announced that a sequel was coming and revealed to begin filming this year with director Adam Wingard returning.
Godzilla vs. Kong may have had some difficulties prior to its release, such as the toy leaks which spoiled the movie, but it ended up being a big hit on HBO Max. It also did surprisingly well during its limited theatrical release, despite the release occurring during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic (which ended up causing a slight delay in release when the film was screened in Japan). But the film, which starred Millie Bobby Brown, Alexander Skarsgard, and Kyle Chandler, ended up an audience pleaser (despite some who felt the human characters took up a bit too much screen time). Now, Warner Bros. Pictures has released the official cast list and provided some story details for the sequel.

The Godzilla vs. Kong sequel is filming under the working title Origins, but an official title has not been announced yet. The film is set to feature a deeper look into the mythos of the MonsterVerse and will explore the origins of these Titans, the mysteries of Skull Island, and the history of the MonsterVerse world. Its plot follows up on that of the original Godzilla vs. Kong, where Kong and Godzilla came to an understanding. Now, the two of them will be pitted against a colossal threat hidden within the Earth, which will challenge their existence and the survival of humankind.
