A talented God of War fan has forged an impressive replica of Thor’s legendary Mjolnir hammer in anticipation of God of War Ragnarok. 2018’s God of War reboot represented a major shift in the story and setting of Sony Santa Monica's mythical action series, as Kratos left the ruins of ancient Greece to pursue a quiet life with his son Atreus amid the Nine Realms of Nordic mythology. This peace sadly wouldn't last, and soon father and son find themselves at odds with the gods of Asgard — including a more brutish and villainous version of Thor.
Thor would only appear in a brief dream sequence at the very end of God of War (2018) that teases a confrontation between Kratos and the Thunder God in the upcoming sequel. During this tense and ominous moment, players caught a glimpse of Thor’s iconic hammer Mjolnir, which is shown to be very different than the versions of the weapon that mainstream audiences are familiar with in both design and backstory. The origins of Mjolnir have varied from source to source, but God of War’s take on the legendary hammer was forged by Brok and Sindri, the Huldra Brothers who also crafted Kratos’s trusty Leviathan Axe. As fans prepare for the seemingly enviable battle between Kratos and Thor in the upcoming God of War Ragnarok, some are speculating that the Ghost of Sparta will wield Mjolnir himself at one point.
