The tactical RPGlaunches on Nintendo Switch in the West this fall. Based on the dark fantasy light novel and anime series, it features an all-new story from series creator Kumo Kagyu.
The Goblin Slayer RPG launched in Japan in February, with the English version coming to Switch on October 25, per Nintendo Life reported. Both physical and digital editions will be available, and publisher Red Art Games is also offering Deluxe and Collector’s Editions. The Deluxe Edition includes an exclusive sleeve, a sticker sheet, and the game’s original soundtrack. Meanwhile, the Collector’s Edition comes with a steel case, sticker sheet, double-sided poster, and double-sided acrylic stand.
Nightmare Feast follows the new Master of the Adventurer’s Guild as she investigates a mysterious artifact that can bring back the dead. While she has her own team of adventurers, the RPG also sees her enlisting the aid of the Goblin Slayer and his party. Players will lead all ten characters in turn-based tactical battles reminiscent of Fire Emblem or Final Fantasy Tactics.
For those unfamiliar with the series, Goblin Slayer is a dark fantasy light novel series following the titular adventurer. An unusual feature of the series is that characters don’t have proper names, instead being referred to by their class or occupation. The anime adaptation attracted some controversy due to the first episode’s depiction of sexual assault, which some felt was gratuitous and only used for shock value. However, the Goblin Slayer anime proved popular enough to spawn a movie and second season, which aired in 2023.
