Epic Games and Disney have outlined Fortnite x Marvel: Absolute Doom, the next Marvel-focused season coming to Fortnite.
During D23, the new season was unveiled by Marvel boss Kevin Feige, Lucasfilm chief creative officer Dave Filoni and Pixar studio boss Pete Doctor.
Fortnite x Marvel: Absolute Doom will begin on August 16. The battle pass will include Marvel characters such as Doctor Doom and Gwenpool.
Epic announced this week that battle pass skins may be sold in the item store after a period of exclusivity, in a huge change to the live-service giant.
In a blog published on Wednesday, it said that any type of item included in future Fortnite Battle Passes might be offered for sale in the Fortnite Shop 18 or more months after the Battle Pass in question has expired.
Epic added: “One reason for this change is that we want players down the road to enjoy Battle Pass content such as Outfits based on popular licensed characters.”
A large number of Marvel characters have been featured in previous Fortnite battle passes and in the item shop, hence the slightly less mainstream characters being part of this season’s offering.
Alongside this new season, a new line of X-Men skins for the game have been released, based on the Disney + series X-Men 97. The characters include Cyclops, Jubilee, and Colossus.
Earlier this summer, Fortnite introduced a new Battle Royale mode featuring classic weapons and locations.
