Final Fantasy 14 has revealed the seasonal quest rewards for its Halloween event, and they look quite devilish.
The outfit this year gives some serious mid-2000s emo vibes (think Black Parade, y’know). Heck, even the official FFIXV splash art is doing that pop-emo sort of pretty-boy pose that made several pop-punk, mainstream emo, and J-rock bands so popular back in their heyday. It’s a suit-and-tie outfit, but with little “pop punk” flairs, including the iconic 2000s-vibes fingerless gloves that was essential to every young rebel’s outfit.
Plus, the oni horns feature a neat two-tone dye—the first for this specific look of accessories. In short, this is absolutely for the young weeaboo cosplayers and young-at-heart Hot Topic shoppers. Or those who look on in envy at the When We Were Young festival lineup.
There’s also a neat little table accessory that’s a floating pumpkin. In fact, floating table items seem to be a trend in FFXIVthis year? Is there something the housing item team figured out that they’re just really excited to show off?
Previous seasons’ All Saints’ Wake have also had a little dress-up mansion where you could put on full-body glamours of a series of beloved NPCs, but we don’t know if that’ll be making a return this year. It seems its last iteration was a few years ago, with one eager player staying logged into it as long as possible, supposedly.
The seasonal questline for FFXIV’s Halloween event starts in Old Gridania, and runs from October 18 until the early morning of November 4 (in the USA, anyway).
