The Witcher series has spawned a lot of fanfiction, but that's not entirely surprising. It's a fantasy series starring a bunch of hot characters - many of which get it on, or can get it on in the games. At the time of writing, there are 46,016 fics on the site Archive of Our Own - 11,567 of which are labelled as "explicit". Turns out, the cast is very aware of this.
Speaking at MCM Comic Con this weekend, Geralt actor Doug Cockle admits that he's read some of these spicy fics, although not because he's gone out looking for them. Turns out, fans like to send the work his way, and he's actually brave enough to click on the links and give the stories a read. Very admirable stuff, to be honest.

At a panel for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, the actors for Geralt, Triss, Yennefer, Eredin, and Dandelion answered a bunch of questions about their time both on the game and in the fanbase after recording. Naturally, the topic of fanfiction came up, and Doug Cockle isn't afraid to admit that he's flicked through a few fics.
"Some of it's so dirty, it's disgustingly good," says Cockle. "I get sent most of it. [...] People will send it in messages, a link to something they've written or to something someone else has written and they've read and thought it was really good. Or they thought it was disgusting and they thought I'd like it - Which is absolutely true.
"So, I've read a number of things. A lot of them are quite sexual. And most of them involve all kinds of things. The bathtub features in a lot of things."
