Perhaps that's why rumours started kicking up about another Microsoft first-party series getting the same treatment (thanks, VGC).
Nick Baker of XboxEra, who claims to have inside knowledge about the project, thinks that the Gears of War series will be next in line to receive a collection like that of Halo. “A while back I said there is another Microsoft franchise that’s getting the Master Chief Collection-type treatment, I am of the belief that that is coming this year,” he said on a recent episode of the podcast.

Baker reiterated his point by saying "if you go from November 2021 to November 2022 and you look at Microsoft’s big game output, it could wind up being Halo, Gears, Forza”. It wouldn't make sense for Forza to have such a collection, so it could only be Gears of War.
A Gears collection would be a great way to let fans relive the stories from the older titles, and even loop in new players before the rumoured upcoming Gears project. The Coalition wouldn't have to worry about the series feeling dated, as forum discussions have come to the conclusion that the Gears of War series has indeed stood the test of time.
