A new God of War mod sparks a console war by adding Halo protagonist Master Chief to the game as a brutal boss fight. Santa Monica Studio's mythological action game released on PC in January, leading to a slew of different fan-made mods. These fan creations are often humorous, like a God of War dialogue mod that makes Kratos snarky, and replacing character models is a particularly popular project for modders.
While 2018's God of War originally launched as a PlayStation 4 exclusive, Kratos and Atreus' journey through Norse mythology came to PC earlier this year. God of War's PC launch served to improve the already beloved experience by adding impactful new features like ultra-widescreen support, Nvidia DLSS and Nvidia Reflex. The title launched without official mod support, but developer Santa Monica Studio made it clear that they looked forward to seeing the mods that fans would create to enhance the fantasy epic. Since the game's PC launch players have added characters like Barney and GTA's CJ to God of War, leading to some hilarious moments.
