An amusing fan-made mod for 2018's God of War replaces mythical deities with hardened survivors from The Last of Us. Both PlayStation-exclusive series see an experienced warrior and a young child companion embark on an epic quest through an ailing and unforgiving world. God of War and Last of Us comparisons are common, and a clever new mod combines the two franchises in hilarious fashion.
2018's God of War and 2013's The Last of Us are two PlayStation-exclusive titles with a number of common qualities. Santa Monica Studios' mythological action game breathes new life into the long-running series by pairing protagonist Kratos with a lovable young son named Atreus. The game takes on a more emotional storyline than previous entries, with Kratos struggling to be a father while Atreus learns to be a god. Naughty Dog's The Last of Us, meanwhile, sees survivors Joel and Ellie work together to traverse a fungal-infected America when her immunity to the infection is discovered. TLOU and God of War fan art has combined the two properties in the past, but now a mod has truly united the two adventures.

A God of War and The Last of Us crossover mod, created by Patreon user Omega Fantasy, lets Joel and Ellie go on an adventure through Midgard. The mod replaces Kratos' character model with Joel, with Ellie replacing Atreus and the cannibalistic David taking the place of invincible god Baldr. Kratos' iconic Leviathan Axe is even replaced with an improvised hammer for Joel. YouTuber Speclizer shows the mod off in an impressive video that also adds The Last of Us voice lines to God of War, raising the experience from a model swap to a full-blown mythological quest for Joel and Ellie.
