Just in time for the new trailer, the starters for Pokémon Scarlet & Violet have been redesigned as classic Game Boy sprites. The new starters for the upcoming Pokémon Scarlet & Violet were revealed back in February when the first trailer dropped. Their names are Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly, the grass, fire, and water type starters respectively.
Just as when starters from previous titles were revealed, the internet was immediately ablaze with fans commenting on the designs, wondering what their final evolutions will look like, and of course, choosing which one they will want on their new Pokémon adventure. All this buzz makes Pokémon starters a common subject for fan art, which tends to only get more ambitious as more starters are added to the franchise. There are already countless pieces of fan art for these newest Pokémon starters all over social media sites like Reddit, Instagram, and Twitter.

Reddit user and artist The_Internet_Goblin posted pixel recreations of Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly in the style of the Game Boy's Pokémon Gold, Silver, & Crystal. The sprites of Gold, Silver, & Crystal kept the color schemes simple, usually sticking to only two or three different main colors. The_Internet_Goblin stayed true to that look, simplifying the starters' color schemes as well as making them more saturated to look exactly like what was seen on a Game Boy. These sprites are perfectly accurate to the starters' original designs while looking like they could fit right in alongside the original sprites.
With Pokémon Scarlet & Violet being released for Switch, seeing these Pokémon rendered in pixel format reminds fans of just how far the series has come. While
