Arkanoid was a block-breaking arcade game from the 1980s, in which the player controls a paddle that whacks a ball into a wall made of blocks. If the player misses the ball and it hits the ground, they lose a life. Arkanoid is an arcade classic, though Breakout was the title that originally introduced the game's concept. The block-breaking formula was emulated by many games over the years, but Arkanoid helped the concept find a new audience in Japanese arcades, despite launching a decade after Breakout. The original Breakout can still be played on many platforms, with Breakout: Recharged being available on modern systems.

For fans of retro games, a new Arkanoid title will allow players to challenge each other online. A new trailer for Arkanoid — Eternal Battle was shown during the 2022 Guerilla Collective event, which can now be seen on the official Game Trailers YouTube channel.
