You never know what you're going to find in a storage unit. Sometimes people use their units to store worthless furniture; sometimes they fill them with priceless antiques. And, as Gameroom has discovered, sometimes they stow away hundreds of games for old-school consoles.
Gameroom describes itself as "a modern video game store/e-commerce hybrid," and it recently discovered a storage unit that was purportedly used by a now-shuttered Nebraska game store to stow away "hundreds" of "SNES, Sega Genesis, Saturn, 3DO, and Sega CD games."
Gameroom's video showcases classic games like Final Fantasy III, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles IV: Turtles In Time, and Chrono Trigger for the SNES; Sonic the Hedgehog 3 and Gunstar Heroes for the Sega Genesis; and dozens of other titles for additional consoles.
These games can be worth hundreds—or, in some cases, thousands—of dollars. (IGN notes that a graded copy of Chrono Trigger alone can fetch $2,400.) Games that cost between $50 and $80 when they were put into storage are now worth more than 10x that amount to collectors.
"We will not be disclosing any more information about this collection until preservation and documentation are completed," Gameroom says in the video's description, adding that it also plans to share more professional footage of the collection at a later date.
