Gameloft’s Asphalt series has been a huge hit on mobile devices and has done wonderfully on consoles as well – especially on the Switch, where you can enjoy this gorgeous-looking game anywhere. That same framework has been used for Disney Speedstorm, which was first playable in a fantastic open beta last year and is now available to buy in early access form in various versions before the free to play version launches in the future – seemingly late in 2023 or early 2024.
Buying the game early gets you a couple of characters right away alongside other goodies in the form of in-game currency to unlock more characters. The lowest price point is $29.99, going up to $49.99 and then to $69.99 for the ultimate bundle that includes more racing suits and kart liveries. Last year’s beta was impressive and at $29.99, I can easily justify spending the money on it because the racing action is so rock-solid and the game has a killer soundtrack as well.
